Tackling hate crime in Edinburgh

Many incidents of hate crime go unreported.  This can happen for various reasons including wories of reprisals, the fear that no-one will believe something happened or that nothing can or will be done.

Things however, can and will, be done if people can find the courage to make the report.  If they wish to do this anonymously they can do so, in confidence, through a Remote Reporting site.

We would always encourage someone to report instances of hate crime; indeed this is the basis of several of our awareness raising campaigns (examples below).  By reporting a hate crime the victim or witness is not only helping catch offenders, they are providing us with valuable information (even if its anonymous) which allows us to understand and respond more effectively to hate crime in Edinburgh and help us prevent others becoming victims.
