Violence
The violence agenda is being driven through the Edinburgh Violence Reduction Programme (EVRP). The programme, which was formally launched on the 6 May 2008, is multi-agency in nature bringing together partners from numerous organisations that have demonstrated a commitment to tackling violence.
The aim of the EVRP is to create a safer environment in Edinburgh, where violence is deemed unacceptable, by:
- reducing murder, attempted murder, serious assault and robbery
- reducing A&E admission (for violence)
- increasing reporting of violence against women
- increasing the number of offenders brought to justice
- reducing crime and the fear of violent crime in Edinburgh
