Violence

The violence agenda is being driven through the Edinburgh Violence Reduction Programme (EVRP).  The programme, which was formally launched on the 6 May 2008, is multi-agency in nature bringing together partners from numerous organisations that have demonstrated a commitment to tackling violence.

The aim of the EVRP is to create a safer environment in Edinburgh, where violence is deemed unacceptable, by:

  • reducing murder, attempted murder, serious assault and robbery
  • reducing A&E admission (for violence)
  • increasing reporting of violence against women
  • increasing the number of offenders brought to justice
  • reducing crime and the fear of violent crime in Edinburgh
