Counter Terrorism
Counter Terrorism policy is reserved to Westminster but many aspects of preparation, prevention and dealing with the consequesnces of a terrorist act in Scotland would be managed and controlled by the Scottish Government and local agencies.
In Edinburgh the multi-agency Delphinus Group is responsible for delivering on the Governments CONTEST Strategy. The strategy comprises four main strands:
- Pursue - to stop terrorist attacks
- Prevent - to stop people becoming terrorists or supporting violent extremism
- Protect - to strengthen our protection against terrorist attacks
- Prepare - where an attack cannot be stopped, to mitigate its impact
Delphinus has set out a dedicated strategy/action plan and is delivering on several significant work streams.
