Community Safety Strategic Assessment
The Strategic Assessment involves the gathering of data from a range of partner agencies on a broad range of community safety issues. Each topic is risk assessed using the ACPOS recognised 3PLEM risk assessment framework and enhanced with additional local weighting factors.
The top five or six issues scored as very high or high are selected as priorities and associated action plans developed. The recent review of the strategic priorities reaffirmed the need to continue to focus on the existing priorities and also highlighted a distinction between those issues that affect local communities on a day to day basis and the issues that are not felt as acutely in the neighbourhoods but nevertheless present a risk. It have been agreed for this reason that the control strategy by divided into two areas to distinguish between local partnership priorities and the commitment to contributing to the delivery of national priorities.
The local priority areas form the focus of the monthly neighbourhood Tactical and Co-ordinating Groups (TACGs) with the Community Safety Co-ordinating Group taking the lead, at a city wide level, for ensuring the delivery of the national priority action plans.
